As well as some fabulous poets, we're delighted that our line-up for our joint celebration of Lewis Grassic Gibbon's anniversary on 15th August includes music from Lenny Helsing. Guitarist and vocalist with long-running Edinburgh-based garage beat

group ‘The Thanes’ as well as drummer and vocalist with vintage punk-style rock’n’rollers, ‘The Wildebeests’, Lenny Helsing has been writing, playing and recording since the late 1970s. His inspiration is drawn from a vast cauldron of influences taking in blues, beat, garage punk, folk-rock plus all avenues of psychedelic expression. With the above-mentioned groups and more, Helsing features on a wealth of commercially released recordings including singles, LPs and CDs as and has played many great gigs across the UK, mainland Europe as well as in Japan and USA. Passionate as a music writer and chronicler, Helsing has contributed to a variety of album sleeve-notes, record reviews and articles for publications such as Ugly Things, It’s Psychedelic Baby and Shindig!
