Neil Young is a poet, publisher, editor, journalist, and a regular reviewer for Poetry Salzburg. Neil, who hails from west Belfast (1964 batch), has lived in north-east Scotland since 2010. His poems appear in journals ranging from The Morning Star, The Scotsman, Northwords Now, Prole, the Honest Ulsterman to Poetry Ireland Review. His individual publications include: Lagan Voices, The Parting Glass, Jimmy Cagney’s Long-Lost Kid Half-Brother, Shrapnel, After the Riot, and The Song She Didn’t Sing. Neil co-founded The Poets’ Republic magazine in 2014, Drunk Muse Press in 2021 – and The Wee Gaitherin poetry festival in the same year, when it became the first spoken word festival to open in Scotland as Covid restrictions were lifted. Neil is also one of The Runaway Poets – a small band of poets who link up to share readings and performances at venues across Ireland and Scotland.
